Anonymous Call Rejection
Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) - Included with Caller ID Deluxe, allows you to reject calls for which the calling party has intentionally blocked the calling number. Rejected calls will hear an announcement that informs the calling party why the call was rejected.
To activate ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION:
- Pick up the receiver and listen for dial tone.
- Dial * 77 (or 1177 for rotary phones).
To deactivate ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION:
- Pick up the receiver and listen for dial tone.
- Dial * 87 (or 1187 for rotary phones).
Automatic WakeUp Service
Automatic WakeUp Service (AWS) - Allows you to set a time for your telephone to give you an automatic wake-up call.
To use AUTOMATIC WAKEUP SERVICE:
- Dial your Automatic Wakeup access number.
- You then will be prompted to dial 8 to get into the service menu.
- If you have V-mail from TEC, your instructions will be to enter your pass code which is your seven-digit telephone number.
- Then simply follow the voice instructions which will guide you through setting your wakeup call.
Call Forwarding
Call Forwarding (CFRWD) - Let your phone calls come to you wherever you are. Transfer incoming calls automatically to another telephone without the assistance of an operator.
- To Use:
- Dial 72 # ( Dial 72 for rotary phones.) When you hear a second dial tone, dial the number where you want your calls forwarded. You'll hear two short tones when the number has registered.
- Call Forwarding is in effect when the other telephone is answered. Stay on the line for at least five seconds. If the line is busy or there is no answer, hang up and immediately repeat the first two steps.
- Call Forwarding will be established automatically when you hear two short tones plus dial tone. No answer is required to activate Call Forwarding on the second attempt.
- To cancel Call Forwarding:
- Dial 73 #. Listen for two short tones plus dial tone.
- Notes:
- Call Forwarding is activated until you cancel it. You can still make outgoing calls from your telephone while Call Forwarding is established.
- You'll hear a short ring whenever your number is called to remind you your telephone calls are forwarded elsewhere. You cannot answer these calls.
- If other persons use your telephone, let them know when incoming calls are being forwarded-especially if they are expecting an important call.
- Don't forget to tell the person who will receive your forwarded calls that you have forwarded your calls to their number.
- You pay applicable charges, if any, for calls forwarded from your telephone.
Call Forwarding/Busy
Call Forwarding/Busy (CFWDB) - Allows you to forward calls to another number whenever you’re line is busy.
- To Activate Call Forwarding/Busy:
- Dial *90, then listen for dial tone.
- Dial the telephone number to which calls will be forwarded.
- To Cancel Call Forwarding/Busy:
Call Forwarding/No Answer
Call Forwarding/No Answer (CFWDNA) - Allows you to forward calls to another number whenever your line is not answered.
- To Activate Call Forwarding/No Answer:
- Dial *92, then listen for dial one.
- Dial the telephone number to which calls will be forwarded.
- To Cancel Call Forwarding/No Answer:
Call Return
Call Return (CR) - Allows you to dial a code and have a call automatically returned to the last party who called or attempted to call you.
- To use Call Return:
- Press *69
- Listen for an announcement that will tell you the phone number of the party who last called you.
- If you wish to return the call:
- Press 1.
- Listen for ringing.
- Wait for answer.
- If you do not wish to return the call, hang up.
- If the line is busy:
- Listen for announcement telling you the number is busy.
- Hang up.
- You will hear a short-short-long ring when the line is free.
- Your call will automatically be made when you lift the handset.
- To Cancel Call Return:
- Press *89 and listen for the tone or announcement.
Call Screening
Call Screening (CS) - Allows you to create a list of phone numbers from which you do not wish to receive calls. Calls made from phone numbers on your list hear an announcement that informs the caller that you are not receiving calls at this time.
- To use Call Screening:
- Press *60.
- Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of how to: Turn Call Screening on or off.
- Press 0 To repeat the instructions.
- Press 1 To review the numbers on your CALL SCREENING list.
- Press 3 To turn CALL SCREENING on/off.
- Press # To add a number to your CALL SCREENING list. (Dial 12 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press * To delete a number from your CALL SCREENING list (Dial 11 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press 0 8 To delete all numbers from your CALL SCREENING list.
- After receiving an annoying call, you may wish to prevent that person from calling you in the future. CALL SCREENING's voice instructions will explain how to add the number of the last caller to your list (even if you do not know the party's number):
- Hang up, then list the receiver and listen for dial tone.
- Press * 6 0 and listen for instructions.
- Press # 0 1 #.
Call Trace
Call Trace (CT) - Allows you to request a trace of an obscene, threatening or harassing call. After receiving such a call, you simply dial a special code to have the calling party’s phone number printed at the Telephone Company.
- To use Call Trace:
- Hang up after receiving the annoying call.
- Lift the receiver and listen for dial tone.
- Press * 5 7, then listen for tone or announcement.
After requesting a CALL TRACE, you should call your Telephone Company if you want the call to be investigated further. Please call before the end of the next business day.
Call Transfer
Call Transfer (CXFR) - Lets you transfer a call to a third party.
To use Call Transfer:
- Depress switchhook and listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone. This places your current call on hold.
- Dial third party’s telephone number, wait for ringing, then hang up.
or
Wait for the third party to answer, advise of transfer, then hang up.
or
Wait for party to answer, advise of call transfer, depress switchhook for three-way call, then hang up.Wait for party to answer, advise of call transfer, depress switchhook for three-way call, then hang up.
- If station is busy or party does not answer, depress switchhook twice to reconnect the call.
NOTES:
- If one party hangs up, a two-way call can continue.
- Calls transferred to a long distance number will be charged to your To use Call Transfer:

Call Waiting (CWT) - Alerts you with a tone during a telephone conversation that another party is trying to reach you.
- To use Call Waiting:
- To end an existing call and answer a waiting call:To end an existing call and answer a waiting call: Hang up, then allow telephone to ring and answer it.
- To hold an existing call and answer a waiting call: Press the switchhook once, firmly for 1/2 second, and release it immediately, or if phone is equipped with a flash button, press once and release.
- To return to the first call: Press the switchhook or flash button once, firmly for 1/2 second, and release it immediately.
- To end either conversation: Hang up the telephone.
- To cancel Call Waiting:
- If you do not wish to be alerted with a tone during a telephone conversation that another party is trying to reach you, you may cancel your CALL WAITING feature.
- Press *70 prior to making your call, then listen for the steady dial tone.
(Dial 1170 for rotary phones). Dial the telephone number you are calling.
NOTE: Cancel CALL WAITING must be programmed before each call made to utilize the service.
Caller ID
Caller ID (CID) - Lets you see the calling party’s phone number before answering a call. A special display device located on or next to your phone is required to allow you to view the calling number.
- To use Caller ID:
- Wait for the start of the second full ring of your phone set.
- The number of the calling party will appear on your display.

Caller ID Blocking
Caller ID Blocking (CIDB) - On some occasions, for security reasons and protection of privacy, you may not wish to have your phone number disclosed to the person you are calling. On such calls, you may wish to use CALLER ID BLOCKING. There is no charge for this feature.
- To use Caller ID Blocking:
- Press *67 (1167 from rotary phones).
- Listen for dial tone.
- Make your call. For this call, your phone number will not be made available to the person you are calling.

Deluxe Caller ID
Deluxe Caller ID (DCID) - Lets you see the calling party’s name and phone number before answering a call. A special display device located on or next to your phone is required to allow you to view the calling party’s name and phone number.
- To use Deluxe Caller ID:
- Wait for the start of the second full ring of your phone set.
- The name and phone number of the calling party will appear on your display.

Direct Connect
Direct Connect (DCNCT) - Direct Connect dials a pre-programmed number or emergency service after 14 seconds of dial tone upon lifting the handset. Direct Connect enhances safety and security for people who are alone — particularly children and the elderly.
- To use Direct Connect:
- Lift handset and wait. Within 14 seconds the pre-designated number will be dialed automatically. The pre-designated number is installed by TEC. You must notify the company of this number when you apply for this feature.
- If you do not wish to dial the pre-designated number, you may dial any other number before 14 seconds have elapsed.
Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb (DND) - Allows you to block incoming calls.
- To set up Do Not Disturb:
- Dial *78 -- Listen for confirmation tone followed by dial tone.
- To cancel Do Not Disturb:
- Dial *79 -- Listen for confirmation tone followed by dial tone.
NOTE: A PIN Number can be added to allow certain people to break through your DO NOT DISTURB feature.
- To set up PIN Number:
- Dial *10.
- Listen for Dial Tone.
- Dial PIN Number (maximum of seven numbers).
- Press # for confirmation.
Enhanced Caller ID With Call Waiting
Enhanced Caller ID With Call Waiting (ECIDCW) - Let's you see who's calling, even when you're already on the phone.
- To use Enhanced Caller ID with Call Waiting:
- When you hear the beep, check your CALLER ID display unit for the incoming call.
- The name and phone number of the calling party will appear on your display.
- To use Call Waiting:
- To end an existing call and answer a waiting call: Hang up, then allow telephone to ring and answer it.
- To hold an existing call and answer a waiting call:Press the switchhook once, firmly for 1/2 second, and release it immediately, or if phone is equipped with a flash button, press once and release.
- To return to the first call:Press the switchhook or flash button once, firmly for 1/2 second, and release it immediately.
- To end either conversation: Hang up the telephone.
- To cancel Call Waiting:

Enhanced Privacy Control
Enhanced Privacy Control (EPC) - Used in conjunction with Caller ID to inform callers that the subscriber does not want to receive telemarketing calls. The subscriber can activate or deactivate the Enhanced Privacy Control feature.
- To use Enhanced Privacy Control:
- Dial *78 (1178 for rotary phones).
- If the subscriber has Caller ID and Enhanced Privacy Control activated and receives an incoming call from a number marked private, unavailable, unknown, or blocked; the call is routed to a recorded announcement stating, You have called a number which does not accept calls from telemarketers. All other callers may press 1 if they wish to complete the call.
- If the calling party enters 1, the call will be completed.
- If the calling party enters any digit other than 1 or does not enter any digit, the calling party receives a busy tone.
- The recorded announcement is omitted as long as the calling number is not marked private, unavailable, unknown, or blocked.
- To cancel ENHANCED PRIVACY CONTROL:
- Dial *79 (1179 for rotary phones).
Preferred Call Forwarding
Preferred Call Forwarding (PCF) - Allows you to create a list of phone numbers that are to be forwarded when they call you. When you activate this service and a call arrives from a phone number that is on your list, the call is forwarded. All other calls will ring your phone in the normal fashion.
- To use Preferred Call Forwarding:
- Press *63
- Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of how to:
- Turn PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING on or off.
- Make changes to your PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING list.
- Press 0 To repeat the instructions.
- Press 1 To review the numbers on your PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING list.
- Press 3 To turn PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING on/off.
- Press # To add a number to your PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING list. (Dial 12 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press * To delete a number from your PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING list. (Dial 11 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press 0 8 To delete all numbers from your PREFERRED CALL FORWARDING list.
- Voice instructions will also guide you through the steps of how to enter, confirm, or change the number to which your calls will be forwarded:
- Press 0 To confirm the forward-to number.
- Press 1 To change the forward-to number.
Priority Ringing
Priority Ringing (PR) - Allows you to program your telephone line to ring with a special ringing pattern whenever you are called from a select list of phone numbers. Your phone will ring with a normal ringing pattern for all other calling numbers. If you also have Call Waiting, you will hear a distinctive Call Waiting tone whenever someone on your list calls you while you are on the phone.
- To use Priority Ringing:
- Press *64
- Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of how to:
- Turn Priority Ringing on or off.
- Make changes to your PRIORITY RINGING list.
- Press 0 To repeat the instructions.
- Press 1 To review the numbers on your PRIORITY RINGING list.
- Press 3 To turn PRIORITY RINGING on/off.
- Press # To add a number to your PRIORITY RINGING list. (Dial 12 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press * To delete a number from your PRIORITY RINGING list. (Dial 11 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press 0 8 To delete all numbers from your PRIORITY RINGING list.
- When PRIORITY RINGING is turned on, listen to the ringing pattern or Call Waiting tones:
- When called from any number on your list, there will be a short-long-short ringing pattern or tone.
- When called from any other numbers, there will be a normal ringing or Call Waiting tones.
Repeat Dialing
Repeat Dialing (RD) - Allows you to dial a code to have your phone continuously attempt to redial a busy number that you tried to call. When the line is free, you will be alerted with a special ringing, and a call automatically will be made. You also can use Repeat Dialing to redial the last number you called.
- To use Repeat Dialing:
- Hang up, then lift the receiver and listen for dial tone.
- Press *66.
- If the line is busy:
- Hang up.
- You will hear a short-short-long ring when the line is free.
- Your call will automatically be made when you lift the handset.
- If the line is not busy:
- Listen for ringing.
- Wait for answer.
- To cancel Repeat Dialing:
- Press *86 and listen for tone or announcement.
Ring 3
Ring 3 (R3) - Get the advantage of three lines on your existing telephone service. With Ring3, you will know who the call is for just by the way the phone rings. Ring3 allows you to have one or two additional lines, each with a distinctive ringing pattern, on your existing telephone line. Ring3 lines cannot be used concurrently.
Special Call Acceptance
Special Call Acceptance (SCA) - Allows you to screen incoming calls by creating a list of phone numbers from which you are willing to accept calls. Calls from phone numbers not contained on your list are sent to an announcement that informs the caller that you are not receiving calls at this time.
- To use Special Call Acceptance:
- Press *64.
- Listen to the voice instructions which will guide you through the steps of how to:
- Turn Special Call Acceptance on or off.
- Make changes to your Special Call Acceptance list.
- Press 0 to repeat the instructions.
- Press 1 To review the numbers on your SPECIAL CALL ACCEPTANCE list.
- Press 3 To turn SPECIAL CALL ACCEPTANCE on/off.
- Press # To add a number to your SPECIAL CALL ACCEPTANCE list. (Dial 12 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press * To delete a number from your SPECIAL CALL ACCEPTANCE list. (Dial 11 for rotary phone sets.)
- Press 0 8 To delete all numbers from your SPECIAL CALL ACCEPTANCE list.
Speed Calling
Speed Calling (SPDC) - Allows you to reach important numbers quickly by dialing an assigned one- or two-digit code.
- To set up Speed Calling Numbers:
- Dial 7 4 # for 1-Digit SPEED CALLING (codes 2 through 9)
or
Dial 7 5 # for 2-Digit SPEED CALLING (codes 20 through 49).
- Listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone.
- Enter the SPEED CALLING code (2 through 9 or 20 through 49).
- Dial the desired number, press #, then listen for three beeps.
- To use Speed Calling:
- Dial the desired SPEED CALLING code (2 through 9 or 20 through 49), then press #.
- To change Speed Calling Number:
- Repeat the four steps for setting up SPEED CALLING Numbers.
Three-Way Calling
Three-Way Calling (TWC) - Lets you add a third person to your conversation.
- To use Three-Way Calling:
- Lets you add a third person to your conversation.
- Dial third person’s telephone number. If busy or no answer, press switchhook or flash button to reconnect first call.
- After third person answers, press switchhook or flash button for a three-way call.
Toll/Code Restriction with PIN
Toll/Code Restriction with PIN (TCRPIN) - Allows customers with toll- restricted lines to place a long distance call by entering a special one- to seven-digit personal identification number.
- To use Toll/Code Restriction with PIN:
- Dial *13 (1113 from rotary phones)
- Wait for dial tone.
- Dial the PIN (1 to 7 digits).
- Dial #
- Wait for recall dial tone.
Dial 1 + the area code + the number you are calling.
Touch Tone
Touch Tone (TT) - Allows you to utilize calling features with ease. It also provides speed, efficiency, and accuracy in dialing.
V-Mail
V-Mail (VMAIL) - V-mail provides you with a personal “voice mailbox.” It allows messages to be left and retrieved in your private mailbox. You can be notified by pager or phone to retrieve messages. V-mail also can be your alarm clock.
