Jackson, MS. – Anisha Lenea Johnson, a senior at Handley High School was selected to receive a $2,400 TEC Scholarship to Southern Union State Community College located in Wadley, AL.
Sponsored by TEC, the given award is based on academic achievement and a personal essay as well as written recommendations by leaders within their community.
The main criteria of the Scholarship are the student cannot have been awarded monies from another foundation and they are required to attend Southern Union State Community College.
“The scholarship’s purpose is to encourage young citizens to pursue higher education, establish life goals, and use their success to serve their community. We also hope to make young adults more aware of the positive attributes of their communities and the benefits of returning to their hometowns after college. We are grateful for our customers and are honored to have the opportunity to give back to the communities we serve,” said Vickie Cummings, sales supervisor at TEC.
