Who can apply?

Every high school student 18 years of age or younger, who is a TEC customer or related to a TEC customer, in the Mississippi residential service area interested in continuing his or her education. The Mississippi residential service area is defined as those persons who have an active account and can be serviced by TEC.

Do I have to be a TEC customer?

Yes, the student applying has to be related to a current TEC customer. An account number will be required for entry.

What are the essay requirements?

The student must submit an essay on the current topic using the online form by the due date listed with a minimum of 500 words. Essays written using AI such as Chat GPT will not be judged.

Who will be judging the essays?

Essays will be judged by a panel of scholarship committee members comprised of current TEC employees. Recipients' names remain anonymous to the committee members until scores have been recorded and winners are announced.

When is the deadline for essay submissions?

The deadline to submit essays is Friday, October 25, 2024, at 5 PM. Winners will be contacted by Friday, November 15, 2024.
