CHEROKEE, AL . – TEC is continuing its investment in Northwest Alabama by completing a significant network infrastructure enhancement designed to provide customers in Cherokee and surrounding communities with an even more reliable Internet experience.

The newly completed project establishes an additional fiber transport route into the Cherokee market, creating multiple independent pathways for network traffic. This added layer of redundancy strengthens the broadband network and helps minimize the impact of unexpected outages while improving overall service resiliency.

"For our customers, this means a stronger, more dependable network," says John Cole, TEC Sr. Director of Network Operations. "We've made a substantial investment in our infrastructure because we know how important reliable connectivity is for families, businesses, schools, and first responders across our communities."

The project, completed in April 2026, provides additional path diversity for the Cherokee community. By constructing an entirely new, diverse route and interconnecting with strategic fiber partners, TEC has tremendously increased broadband network reliability.

The enhancement benefits customers throughout Cherokee and the surrounding Northwest Alabama service area and represents another step in TEC's ongoing commitment to delivering fast, reliable broadband service to the communities it serves.

As demand for high-speed internet continues to grow, TEC remains focused on strengthening its network and investing in the long-term reliability of its infrastructure.

"Connectivity has become an essential part of everyday life," Scott Pell, TEC President, added. "We're committed to continually improving our network and making proactive investments that help keep our customers connected."
